Samantha and Liam

As the doors opened, we ran full-speed into the hall. “Come on, Abby! We need good seats!” I grabbed her hand and pulled her through the crowd. I was determined to get near the front row for this concert. Sure, Abby’s my best friend, but I didn’t want her to slow me down. When we get into the hall, I see that there are two seats front-row on the stage-left side open. That was my chance. I don’t stop running until I claim the seats for us. I put down my jacket and Abby does the same on her seat. “These are great! Sure they’re not center-stage, but still. Front row!” Abby was beaming. We were both HUGE One Direction fans, and we were lucky to get these tickets. It was open seating, so we got there four hours before the concert so we coudd be near the front of the line. Luckily, they let us in only an hour after we got there, and we were on of the first in line. We fangirled and created silly scenarios of us meeting the band and them falling madly in love with us, even though we would be thrilled if one of them even glanced in our direction. Abby always talked about Zayn and how cool he must be, but personally, I wanted to meet Liam. He was my favorite of all the band members. He just seemed so…sweet. And caring. And talented. And cute…
“Sam…Sam?” I shook my head and snapped out of my daydream. “I really need to go to the bathroom. Can we go find one?” I looked at her, trying to hide the fact that I was getting upset. “Well, I guess, but…what if we lose our seats?” “Oh, we’ll be fine, Sam. Let’s go quick!” I trailed along behind her, shooting glances back to make sure no one was moving our stuff. We pushed against the crowd trying to get in, trying to make it to the other side. We were starting to get squished when I spotted a door a few feet away. I tapped Abby on the shoulder and we shoved through people to get through the door and out of the crowd. When we shut the door, we just looked at each other and laughed. We remembered we were looking for a bathroom and turned around to see what room we were in. As we did, our eyes widened and we couldn’t help but gasp. Standing in front of us, looking at us with curious looks, was One Direction.
“…Um…we, um…” Abby tried to say something, but neither of us could form a sentence. Louis laughed. “Well, hello to you too.” The boys all laughed and smiled. My eyes were set on Liam, who seemed to be staring right back at me. I finally found my confidence. “We, uh…were looking for a bathroom. There’s a huge crowd outside and…we saw the door…sorry.” “Don’t be,” Liam answered immediately. He smiled a little, and my heart seemed to melt. “Well, I guess we’ll go…” We turned around to go when Liam grabbed my hand. “Wait.” I turned around quickly to look at him. “We should at least, uh…know your names and, um..get to know you, right?” Harry stepped forward now. “I agree. I think we deserve to know who accidentally happened to walk into our room.” We all laughed as they gestured for us to sit down. “So, what are your names, girls?” Niall asked politely. “Well, I’m Abby, and…this is Sam.” I looked at Liam, who was looking at me again. The seven of us started to talk, and we we suddenly forgot about going to the bathroom. Liam and I kept looking at each other and smiling, or blushing and looking away. We ended up shifting seats around, so Liam sat next to me. We branched off into our own conversations every now and then, and I found out we actually had a lot in common. A few times Liam would put his hand on mine or nonchalantly put his arm around me. I felt like I was dreaming.
As we were all laughing at a joke Abby made, Liam and I were laying on the couch with his arm around me. Zayn looked down at his watch and jumped up. “Guys! Half an hour until the concert starts!” We all stared at him in disbelief. Had we really all been hanging out there for two and a half hours? “Oh my gosh, we’re so sorry. We didn’t mean to keep you from warming up and sutff…” “Nonsense,” Louis said. “You girls were fun to talk to. Why not come backstage after the show?” Abby and I looked at each other and grinned. “I think we can do that,” Abby said happily. “Perfect!” Harry yelled. “Where are you guys sitting?” Suddenly I remembered. “Oh gosh. Our seats were front row, stage left…but that was two and a half hours ago. They were probably stolen by now-” “I think we can take care of that,” Liam said to me. He smiled and winked at me, his arm still around me. We all stood up and hugged each other goodbye. Liam and I hugged extra-long, smiling at each other as we slowly moved away from each other. Abby and I slipped out of the room, jumping up and down together and running back to the stage.
As we expected, someone stole our seats. We walked up to the front. “Excuse me, these are our seats. Our stuff’s right there.” The girl seemed to look down on me. “Well, you weren’t here, and there’s no proof this stuff’s yours. Sorry.” Abby stepped forward now. “That’s because we were hanging out with O-” I covered Abby’s mouth. “…You’re right. Theres no proof. But these ARE our sats, so we’ll just wait here until you have to move. Abby pulled me aside. “Why did you do that?” she whispered to me. “I have a feeling this is going to be much better revenge. And we don’t want her attacking us or anything.” We stood there until the boys walked on stage. Liam looked toward stage left immediately and spotted us. He called the boys and they all walked over to the edge of the stage. The girl was grinning from ear to ear. “Can you move now? they’re going to tell you to sit down,” she said to us. “Not exactly…” I mumbled. The boys all kneeled down so we could hear them. “Excuse me,” Liam started. “But I think you stole our friends’ seats. Could you please give them back?” Liam looked at me, amiled and winked. I couldn’t help but grin back. The girl’s sile disappeared as she picked up her stuff and dragged her friend away with her. We took our seats and screamed a thank-you to the boys before they started the show.
The concert was spectacular. The boys kept looking at us and walking over to us and smiling. It was like we were all best friends. I was most excited that Liam seemed to be singing to me for the entire concert. I know it seems crazy, but…I knew there was something between us. After the concert, we picked up our belongings and ran to the door from before. We knocked quickly so no one would notice. It opened slightly as we ran in. We hugged the boys and congratulated them, and we all sat back down to talk about the concert. After a few minutes of us all talking, Liam tapped me on the shoulder. “Can you walk out here with me for a minute?” I nodded, and we both got up and walked through a different door. Liam and I interlocked our fingers and walked slowly down the hallway we were in. “So, Sam…I, uh…” He stopped walking and turned to face me. “…Look. I know this is crazy, but the second you walked through that door, my heart dropped and my stomach started to flip. You’re special, Sam. You’re unlike any other girl I know.” I looked up at him, somewhat puzzled. “…What do you mean? Why me?” Liam looked down for a moment, then gazed into my eyes. ”Sam…I don’t even get that nervous when I’m getting ready to perform.” At that moment, Liam brushed the hair out of my face, and we closed the gap between us. As our lips moved in sync, Liam slowly slid his hands around my waist as I wrapped mine around his neck. We both started to smile through the kiss, as my happiness seemed to eminate from my body. When we broke apart, we just stood there, my back against the wall and him his body close to mine. We stared at each other, and I decided to break the silence. “…So, what does this mean?” Liam’s smiled turned into a smirk. “This means that I will definitely be seeing you again soon. Do you have any plans?” I smirked back at him. “I do now.” We shared another kiss before walking back to the room, hand-in-hand.
When we walked back in, everyone turned to look at us. We blushed and sat down. “Something you want to tell us, you two?” Zayn raised his eyebrows suspiciously. Liam and I looked at each other, practically reading each others minds, and shrugged. “Everyone, meet my new girlfriend, Sam.” Abby looked at me with wide eyes. I turned to her and whispered, “Thank you.” “For what?” she asked me. “For having to go to the bathroom.” We giggled quietly as I snuggled up with my new boyfriend, Liam Payne.

Becca and Niall

Becca sat on her bed on a Friday night, close to tears for the third time this week. She could feel them welling up in her eyes as she spoke into the the phone. “Niall, stop. Please. You’re only making this worse.” But Becca, you have to give me a chance to explain. You’re not being fair. Please. I can make this work. “No, Niall. You can’t. And I can’t either.” Becca and Niall had been dating for a few months now, but Niall had been away on tour for almost the entire time. Becca was starting to get suspicious of Niall, because there had been rumors of him being with another girl. She brushed them off at first, but then curiosity and paranoia began to eat at her. The rumors were growing, and the evidence seemed to be everywhere: online, on TV, in magazines. And the only thing that was convincing her otherwise was Niall, reassuring her that it was just gossip and everything was fine. And she believed him-until the video came out. Becca was home alone on Wednesday when her friend called her up frantically, saying, “HAVE YOU SEEN THE VIDEO?” Becca immediately pulled it up and gasped at what she watched. She stared at the screen, watching as Niall kissed this other girl, this girl that he promised Becca was nothing. She called Niall immediately, undure if she was angrier about him lying to her or cheating on her. They were still fighting today, but Becca decided what she had to do. “No, Niall. I’m done. If you really liked me you wouldn’t have cheated!” But Becca, I was wrong. Please don’t do this. PLEASE. “No, Niall. WE’RE THROUGH.” She slammed down the phone as every emotion she felt was let out through her constant tears.

She didn’t sleep that night. She didn’t sleep for awhile after that.

It had been six months since Becca hung up on Niall, and she hadn’t seen him since then. He had still been away on tour, and she made sure to skip every magazine page that said “Niall Horan” and every video titled “One Direction.” She didn’t want to think about Niall, and she especially did not want to think about that last week or what he did. She tried to keep herself occupied with friends or other boys, but she was still unhappy. No one ever made her as happy as she was when she was with Niall…

No Becca, don’t do this again, Becca thought to herself. It will only make you feel worse. Just don’t think about him. She walked out of the school and over to her car, when she stopped short. There, leaning against her car, was Niall. When he spotted her, he started to run over to her. She stood there in shock for a second, trying to weigh her options. She was tempted to run over to him and hug him…No, Becca. You know what he did. She tried to get around him and to her car, but he was too quick. He grabbed her arm and she spun around, furious now. “What, Niall?” People were beginning to stare. He was a celebrity, anyway. “…Um…Hi.” “Hi. Can I go now?” More people were starting to walk towards them. “Let’s go somewhere more…private, shall we?” “Stop, Niall. We’re not friends. I’m not just going to walk away with you after what you did. I’m leaving.” she pulled her arm out of his grasp and started to was to her car, and she could hear Niall following. She tried to get in the car without him opening the door, but he rushed over and got in the passenger seat. Becca groaned and started the car, accepting the fact that she can’t stop him. Once they started driving, Becca tried not to look at him. ”What do you want?” “I want to…apologize. For everything.” “Okay. What’s your point? You cheated on me. I don’t trust you, Niall. I’m not going to come running back just because you said sorry.” ”Please Becca, just…hear me out.” She sighed and pulled over to park. “Fine. In here.” She parked in front of a small cafe, and they both got out to take a table. “…Okay. Talk, Niall.” He took a deep breath. “Honestly, Becca? Yeah. I kissed the girl. That was the only time I did. I don’t know why I did. I hadn’t seen you in so long and…I missed you. And I started to feel like it wouldn’t work. I lost faith. And so…I started talking to her. And I kissed her. And I regretted it right after. Because…she wasn’t you. No girl is you. And no girl will ever be as good as you. Ask anyone I know, I haven’t been happy lately. I’ve…” He looked down. For a moment, Becca was concerned. ”What’s wrong, Niall?” “…Nothing.” Becca instictively held Niall’s hand. “Tell me, Niall.” Niall looked confused for a moment, but he didn’t question it. “…I’ve become depressed, Becca. All of the boys have noticed that I’m down, even the paparazzi and. Have you been reading the articles in the magazines?” Now it was Becca’s time to look down. “…No. I’ve kinda been trying to avoid you.” Niall sighed. “I don’t blame you. I would do the same thing. But everyone has been noticing that I’m down, and everyone’s asking why. I just keep saying, ’I’m not feeling well,’ or ‘I miss home…’ But honestly? I miss YOU, Becca. I can’t go on without you. I’ve resorted to some…bad things to try and get over this. I’ve been drinking and…nothing helps. Nothing WILL help, except…you.” Becca looked at Niall, and she saw a tear sliding down his cheek. “Niall…” “…I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have come here. This is really sudden and out of nowhere and…I just put a lot of pressure on you. I’ll just go. I’m sorry, Becca.” He started to stand up when Becca stood and grabbed his arm. Immediately Niall turned around. They both stood there staring at each other, Becca’s mind racing. Be careful, Becca. You never know. He could be lying, or trying to get your pity, or- Becca suddenly stood up on her toes and closed the gap between them. Niall was taken by surprise, but he began to smile as their lips moved in sync. Becca couldn’t help but smile too. She knew that he meant every word he said. And she was honestly happy that he did. When they pulled apart, Niall rested his forehead on Becca’s. “I love you, Becca. Can we try this again?” Becca simply nodded, as she leaned in and they kissed once again.

Haley and Harry

“Hey babe, how are you?” Harry walked into my house with a smile on his face. He gave me a peck on the cheek and grabbed my hand. “Hey Harry…” My voice faded away. I didn’t want to speak. I knew the news I was about to give was going to break him. He stopped and spun around to see me. “What’s wrong, Haley?” “…Let’s sit down.” We walked over to the couch and took a seat. I couldn’t bear to look at his face, so I stared down at my hands and twiddled my thumbs. “Harry…there’s something I need to tell you.” My eyes started to well up with tears before I could choke out the words. In a moment, the tears began to splash down onto my lap and I was sobbing next to Harry. Harry immediately put his arm around me and moved closer, trying to calm me down. “It’s okay Haley, just relax. Everything is going to be okay. Talk to me.” His voice was quivering, so I knew he was terrified for what I was about to say. I couldn’t hold it in anymore. I suddenly sputtered through my sobs, ”I, I…I’m mo-moving, Harry. To-t-to…San Diego.” Harry froze. We both lived in Boston.

On the day of the move, he came to the airport to say goodbye. We stood beforethe gate, hugging each other. I didn’t want to let go, and I certainly didn’t want to go to California. “I’m really going to miss you, Harry.” “I know. And I’m going to miss you too.” We hugged again. Harry went in for a kiss, but I turned my head. “Don’t Harry,” I said. “I think it’s best if we-” “Shh.” Harry closed his eyes, and I saw a single tear roll down his cheek. “I understand. But just know…I’ll always love you, Haley.” He gave me a kiss on the forehead before he turned around and walked away.

                                 Three years later

As I walked down the streets of San Diego holding my Starbucks on a sunny July day, the hustle and bustle of the city allowed me to be alone with my thoughts. It has been three years since we moved here, and I’ve finally started to get used to the weather. My mind did wander back to Boston every now and then, the rainy days especially. It barely rained here in San Diego. Back in Boston when it rained i would stay inside and watch movies with-

…I haven’t had a boyfriend since we moved to San Diego. Not because I never had the opportunity, a couple of boys had asked me out. I just…I couldn’t bring myself to say yes. Every time I even talked to a boy, my thoughts immediately traveled to…

I accidentally walked into someone and stumbled back a little. I wasnt paying attention, I was too busy thinking about-

“Harry?” I shook my head and blinked a few times. Is this real? It can’t really be Harry, standing here in front of me. It’s just my imagination playing tricks on me. It’s because I was just thinking about him. But it can’t possibly be him…right? One way to find out. “Harry? Is that you?” He just stood there for a moment, staring at me. I couldn’t tell what was running through his mind-whether it was disbelief, anger, sadness, or…something.

Suddenly he took a step towards me, brushed the hair out my face, and kissed me. My heart began to race and the butterflies that used to flutter around in my stomach when I was with him appeared after three years of being forgotten. I smiled through the kiss, overwhelmed with joy. We pulled apart, staring at each other. “Hey, Haley.” I grinned at him and we kissed again. I threw my arms around his neck while he snaked his around my waist. At this moment, I knew this was real. That he was here, he was real, and everything else disappeared. Everything else just went away. It was just us there together, Us standing there on the sidewalk, reunited at last.

We walked down the street, hand in hand, as we tried to catch up. It had been three years. Harry told me about how he was still doing fine in school. He had started to focus on music a lot more. I knew that he used to sing and play the guiter a lot. He had a wonderful voice. Sometimes I would remember the songs he sang to me, the lullabies he wrote for me, and I would play them in my head at night as I tried to sleep. Now he atually had gigs and played at venues. He was majoring in it now. I caught him up on everything in my life. I was doing fine in school too, made some good friends, the normal. I was majoring in photography. He laughed when I said this. ”Of course you are. You always brought your camera with you everywhere. Always taking pictures of everything. Me, the landscape, us…everything. They were nice ones too.” I blushed a little. I started thinking and realized there was something I never even bothered to ask. “Harry, why are you here? I mean, in San Diego?” Harry looked at me, his brow furrowed. “No! not like that. I mean, I’m extremely happy you’re here, obviously. But…why are you here? What brings you here?” “I have a gig out here…” This time it was my turn to laugh. “Even after three years, I can still tell when you’re lying.” He stopped walking, and I got pulled back a little since we were holding hands. He turned to face me. “Do you remember what I said to you before you got on the plane?” “I think so…yeah.” The truth was, I remembered it perfectly. I would play the moment over and over in my head every day. “You said that you would always love me.” ”Yes. And…well, I don’t know, Haley. I can’t stand being without you.” “…What do you mean, Harry?” “Haley, I haven’t dated anyone since you left. I haven’t even looked at girls the same way. Every time, I would just think of you, and…no one was-well, is-as perfect as you. and no one ever will be.”I looked up at him. ”Harry…” “…You’re not dating anyone, are you? Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry-” “No, Harry. It’s not that. I’ not dating anyone.” “Oh, thank goodness.” We both started laughing after he said that. “Then what is it, Haley?” “Harry, I haven’t dated anyone either. I’ve been thinking the exact same thing. But…how will this work? You go to college in Boston, and-” “-Actually, I went to college in Boston. I now go to college right here, in San Diego. Well, I will this year, at least.” I couldn’t help but gasp. Is this really happening? “I love you, Haley. And these last three years have been torture. I don’t want to to be away from you any more. Never again do I want that to happen. And I am determined to make sure of that. So…will you go out with me, babe?” “Yes, Harry!” I hugged his and shared another kiss with him. I couldn’t help but smile because finally, after three years, I finally felt truly happy. I finally felt like whole again, because my other half had returned to stay.

Katie and Niall

“You ready for this, babe?” Katie spun around to see Niall, all dressed and ready to go. She thought he looked a bit funny in the apron and chef’s hat, but he insisted on wearing them. He still looked cute to her, though. He always seemed to look gorgeous to her. “Let’s get cooking-well, baking.” Katie looked at Niall with the look she always gives him after making corny jokes, the “you-know-you-love-me” look. He smirked at her, like he always did, and let out a chuckle. “Let’s do this.” The two turned around and got to work. Katie would be lying if she said she wasn’t a bit nervous for this adventure; it was Niall’s first time baking anything, so she wasn’t sure how well this batch of cookies was going to turn out. But she made sure to pick a simple chocolate-chip sookie recipe when she was looking online, just in case. Katie looked back at Niall again. She couldn’t help but grin seeing Niall in that silly hat, sticking out his tongue deep in concentration while reading the directions.  Well, she thought. Even if the cookies don’t turn out right, at least he’s dressed for the occasion. She giggled one last time before starting.

The music was blaring as the two were working. They were dancing around the kitchen to “Gotta Be You” while getting out all of the ingredients. “Niall, could you give me the flour?” Katie was facing the counter when suddenly she heard Niall try to stifle a laugh. She turned around to see what happened. “Niall, what’s so-” She saw Niall with his hand out in front of him before she was covered in flour. Niall backed up and started hysterically laughing while Katie tried to wipe some of the flour off her face. She looked up at Niall, and he stopped alughing for a moment. “…I’m going to kill you.” She smirked, grabbed the bag of flour off the counter, shoved her hand inside and started to throw it at Niall as quickly as she could. Niall tried to run, but he was cornered. both of them started to laugh, and Katie could hear Niall try to say “Stop” in between fits of laughter. “Okay, okay!” He put up his hands, and Katie thought she had him. Then in an instant, he snatched the bag of flour from her and poured it right on top of her. He threw the bag behind him and picked her up, starting to tickle her as Katie tried to fight back. “Niall! No fair!” they were both laughing when he finally put her down. They took a minute to calm down as they just stared at each other. Once they were both able to breathe normally, Niall walked towards Katie and grabbed her hands. He slowly brushed the hair out of her face, and leaned in for a long kiss. Katie slowly wrapped her arms around Niall as he snaked his around her waist. They smiled at each other and rested their foreheads together. ”I love you, Katie.” ”…Even like this? While I’m completely covered in flour?” she whispered. Niall’s smile grew a bit bigger. “Especially like this.” They kissed one more time and decided to look at the damage. The kitchen was coated in the white powder. ”Well, so much for baking cookies,” Katie said. “Not true.” Katie looked at him quizzically. Niall walked over to a four-coated cabinet and opened the door. “I bought an extra bag, just in case.” Katie grinned at him. “did you expect something like this?” “Well, not exactly,” he began. “I just had a feeling we would need another bag, whether it be because I messed up the recipe or…” his voice trailed off as he tried to stifle a laugh. Katie looked at him, her eyebrows raised. “…Okay, I was planning on attacking you with flour during this. But can you blame me? Look at how much fun we had!” Katie ran over to him and punched him playfully. “Niall! Now we have to clean all this up!” “Eh…we can do it AFTER we finish baking.” They kissed one more time before deciding to finish what they started.

One batch of cookies and a clean kitchen later, Katie and Niall were sitting at the table, staring at the treats. “Do you want to try it first?” Katie asked Niall. “Um…I don’t know, babe. I’m not the best cook…” “how about we try them at the same time then?” Niall grins. “Alright. On the count of three. One…” They both picked up a cookie. “Two…” They held them in front of them. “…Three!” Both of them took a bite at the same time. They sat for a moment, chewing them and judging if they’re actually edible. In a moment, Katie looked up at Niall with wide eyes. Niall’s face showed he was immediately concerned. “What’s wrong, Katie?” “These are actually good!” She started to laugh as Niall relaxed and laughed along with her. “I’m impressed, Niall. We did a good job.” “Thanks to you. I’m lucky I had you to bake them with.” They shared another kiss before chowing down on their delicious cookies.

Every year on that day, they decided to create a tradition that they would make cookies together. They knew a flour war was inevitable and came prepared, but they both pretended they had no idea each year when the time came. They both knew about the flour war, yes. But Katie was not prepared when one year, when Niall was about to throw a handful of flour, he bent down on one knee and opened his hand to show, among the flour, a diamond ring.

Elizabeth and Liam

Saturday was coming to a close and never have I ever been in a better mood. The top to my convertible car was down and warm air blew my hair around wildly. Domino by Jessie J blasted from the radio and I could feel my throat becoming sore from singing along so loudly. Luckily no one would be bothered by me here on the highway. All was going well but suddenly something happened. Either I was on a sugar high from all those slurpies or my car was slowly declining speed. My eyes flickered to the dashboard where it was shown that my gas tank was on empty. What? Ugh, why now? No no no…I willed the car to keep going a little while longer but soon I was parked—or maybe stranded is a more accurate word—on the side of the highway with sunset nearing. Taking a deep breath, I forced myself to calm down and grabbed my phone out of my purse. I’ll be fine, I told myself. I’ll just call someone. I press a button to activate my phone and, of course, find it’s dead. Perfect. Just like a horror movie. Eventually someone or rather something will emerge from the thick woods that stand only yards away from me and hack me to death or eat me alive or something. I turn my attention to the passing cars hoping that it won’t be a stranger pulling over to help me, if anyone even bothers. Half an hour passes and I’m left sitting in a car on the side of the road and in the dark. My head rested against the cool glass window and my eyes drooped shut so it startled me half to death when I heard a tapping on the window. On the other side of the door stood a tall boy, around my age, with soft chocolate eyes and a cute smile. After recomposing myself I roll down the window. “Hi,” I say.

“Hi, I’m sorry if I startled you. Do you need a ride?” I contemplate in my head whether or not it’d be smart to go with the boy. Anyone knows that good looks can be deceiving. He could still be some psycho killer. But I have no other plans to resort to so I push the paranoid thoughts away and answer him.

“Yeah, if it wouldn’t be any trouble. My phone’s dead and my car kinda failed on me too.”

“Oh, no trouble,” he replies. “I’m just surprised that no one has been kind or smart enough to stop and help out such a pretty girl.”

I hop out of my beloved new car and into the boy’s SUV. I buckle in and make sure to lock my car’s doors before he drives off.

“I’m Liam, by the way.” He says before an awkward silence can settle in.

“Oh, thanks, Liam. I’m Elizabeth.”

“So what happened to your car?”

“Oh, ran out of gas. I’ve never been in this situation so I have no idea what to do or how to get my car back home…”

“Don’t worry, Elizabeth, I’ll help you out.”

Liam lets me choose a radio station and when I can’t decide, he lets me look through his CD collection. I flip through them all, and they’re all pretty good, but then I find my favorite band’s album, a group almost nobody else I know knows about. I pop it in to the player and turn it up loud. He looks over at me and gives a big surprised smile.  “You know them?” he asks. I tell him they are my absolute favorite group and we sing along to the whole album together, me giving him directions every now and then. Once all the songs are over we make it to a gas station. He buys a couple gallons for me to take back to my car. It was dark already and I didn’t want to wait in the car so I went inside with Liam and looked around for some snacks to buy while he got the gas. With a good sized pile of food in my arms I headed to the counter to pay. A woman in her twenties was standing behind the register chewing bubblegum. While she was scanning all the items Liam called to me from the door.

“I’m gonna head back out to the car, Elizabeth.” I smiled and gave him a thumbs up, now chewing my own piece of gum.

“That’s one cute guy you got there.” I turned around and found it was the checkout girl speaking to me. “I wish my boyfriend looked like yours.” I followed her gaze and watched Liam as he walked back to his car.

“Oh. Yeah,” I dropped the money in her hand and took the plastic bag. “Thanks.” I said, and left for the door. It’s true, Liam was extremely gorgeous. And his voice was like heaven, especially when he sang. He had the cutest smile, is really sweet, and we love the same underrated band. I couldn’t have gotten any luckier with who stopped to help me on the highway. I couldn’t help but picture how we’d look as a couple. We sat in the car for a minute dividing the snacks then took off so we could get back to my car. There had been a few minutes of silence that I was eager to break. “So where were you going to before you so kindly stopped to help me?”

“Oh, um, just to go meet some friends for dinner, actually.”

“Oh, oh I’m so sorry, did I ruin your plans?”

“No! Of course not, you’re an exception. Besides, I let them know and they understand…..but there’s still time to make it. Would you like to join me?”

“Really? It wouldn’t be a bother? I mean, we just met, and I’d be a total stranger to everyone.”

“Yeah, you could come! And anyway, all of my friends have brought their girlfriends and I’m kind of a fifth wheel so,”

“So you want me to be your fake girlfriend for a day?”

“I mean I guess so. You’ll be my date. Come on, it’ll be fun.”

After fueling up my car, I drove in mine and followed Liam to the restaurant. It was actually a really good time. His friends’ girlfriends were lovely, we all exchanged numbers and at one point went to the ladies’ room to chat a bit and I made up a little story about how Liam and I met, so that it wouldn’t be obvious I was just there to rid of all embarrassment. At the end of the night I was glad I’d make a few friends, and I was hoping Liam would want to be friends too, but I didn’t feel that I had the right to be. Nor did I feel confident enough to ask him for his number. I’m just the girl he helped off the side of the road and used as a pretend date or girlfriend or something. That doesn’t mean much.

“Thanks for coming. Hope you had a good time,” Liam said as he walked me to my car. If you could even call it that; we were parked right next to each other.

“Oh yeah, no problem. A favor for a favor. Well, have a good life—I mean—night.” I quickly ducked into my car but Liam stopped me before I could close the door.

“Hey, I just met you so I know this sounds kind of crazy, and we just went on a fake date, but…here’s my number. Maybe you could call me sometime?” I watched his face. He looked genuinely nervous as he waited for my reply.

“Thanks, I’d love to.” I said with a very pleased smile. His face lit up so fast and nothing had ever made my heart race as much as his smile did. “So I’ll see you soon?”

“I sure hope so. Goodnight, Elizabeth. Keep that car in good shape!”

After he drove off I sat in my car staring at the napkin that had his phone number scribbled on it. And I actually squealed in happiness. I have never loved my car so much for running out of gas.

Celine and Louis

The stars above seemed brighter than before, and the music playing in the background made for the perfect setting. Louis’ hands rested on my hips and we swayed together in the moonlight, each breath I took I had to force back out, because his eyes made my heart flutter every time I caught myself lost in them. I’ve never felt myself fall so hard so fast, but nothing before had ever felt so right. I remember when I first saw those eyes. It was raining. When I first met his gaze as I stepped on that train I knew something was meant to happen between the two of us—or at least I hoped there was—I just didn’t know how. But before I exited the train he stopped me. He said, “Sorry, excuse me, but you know it’s raining out, right?” I turned around to see who was speaking to me.

“Yeah, but it’s just sprinkling.” I returned to my previous act of leaving when he grabbed my arm.

“Well, yeah, but it, it could get worse. And I’m sure if there happened to be, say, a tornado or a really, really bad thunder storm or something, you wouldn’t want to get caught in it alone. You…might end up in danger!” I let out a small, breathy laugh and flashed him a smile.

“I’ll be fine. I believe I can take care of myself.” I slipped my arm from his grip and stepped off the train. I pulled up my hood and was about to take out my cell phone when I realized my purse was no longer hanging from my shoulder. “Aw shit.” I muttered under my breath. I left it on the train. How could I be so reckless? I turned around to watch the train that would be leaving with my purse still seated on it but instead, I found the same blue-eyed boy running after me, my purse dangling from his hands. He made his way to me and handed me my bag. I was a bit shocked, but I managed out a very relieved “thank you.”

“No problem.” He grinned. “Why don’t you give me a call later so I know you made it home safe?”

“Wha—but I—how can I call you?” I shouted as I watched him walking away. He gave me a sly wink and continued walking with his hands in his pockets. I took out my phone and searched through my contacts list until I came to a name and number that were foreign to me. Louis. His name was Louis.

I called him, as he had asked, and found he was a real charmer. It was so simple and easy for him to get me to agree to a date. In an instant I knew he was all I needed forever.

Louis grabbed my hand and spun me. He unsuccessfully tried not to crack a smile when I lost my footing from being a bit dizzy in result of the twirl. But he caught me, as I knew he always would. Someone had convinced Louis’ school’s dance committee to have an outdoor prom. It was beautiful, and I was grateful for the continuous supply of fresh air because Louis still gave me butterflies sometimes.

“Hey, Lou?”

“Hmm?”

“Thank you. For being an idiot and making a fool out of yourself that day on the train.”

“My pleasure. Hey, Celine?”

I giggled. “Yes, Lou?”

“I really, really love you.” My breath got caught in my throat. Not only was this the most serious I had ever seen Lou, but this was the first time he told me he loved me. My heart melted and my eyes turned glossy.

“God, Louis, you have no idea how much I really love you too.” He stopped swaying and ran a hand through my hair before pulling me in close and closing the gap between our lips. Our mouths moved in sync and I held him tight, hoping this moment would never end. I knew it would eventually, but at least our love wouldn’t have to. We continued to kiss and didn’t even stop when it started to sprinkle rain. Lou smiled through the kiss, remembering the first time we met, and neither of us caring if the rain ruined our clothes or not. Everyone else cleared into the school gym, leaving Louis and I to ourselves. This love was a new kind of magic and I wouldn’t ever be stupid enough to let it go.

Chloe and Louis

“Good morning beautiful.” Chloe felt a soft kiss on her cheek as her eyes opened slowly. Laying next to her was the familiar blue-eyed boy with light brown hair. She smiled and kissed him back. “Good morning Louis. I guess I fell asleep here again?” “Mhmm. Third time this week.” She laughed and sat up to survey the area. It took her a minute to realize she was in Louis’s room instead of on the couch in the living room. “Weren’t we watching a movie on the couch?” “Yes. But you fell asleep on my lap, so I carried you to my room. I wasn’t just going to leave you there.” She smiled at him again. “Well, thank you.” She have him another kiss before he helped her out of bed. “I’m going to go make breakfast babe, just come down when you’re ready.” Chloe heard him walk down the hallway so she decided to get ready in the bathroom. Now that she was awake and alone, her mind started to wander. It was the third time she fell asleep at Louis’s apartment this week. She comes over a few times every week, and she always stays over at least once per week. It wasn’t a big deal to her, considering her and Louis had been dating for over four years now. She knew she was head over heels in love, as was he. She secretly hoped he would ask her to move in with him soon, but she knows that Louis is very laid-back and isn’t eager to make commitments. So she didn’t bother him or rush him, but merely decided that he would ask eventually. When she fixed her hair in a simple ponytail, she walked down the hall to the kitchen. She entered to see Louis cleaning the kitchen, with the table set for two. When he turned and saw Chloe, he smiled at her an grabbed her hand. “For breakfast, we have French toast-your favorite. Enjoy.” He have her another peck on the cheek as she sat before he took his place next to her. “So what are our plans for today, Louis?” She asked as she did every day, knowing very well that he never had a clue as to what to do. She asked as more of a joke than anything else. But when he answered today, she was not ready for the response. “I thought we would go downport today.” She sat wide-eye for a moment. “…You actually have a plan? Well, this is new.” She smirked at him and he laughed a little. “Don’t get used to it, babe. I only thought of it because I knew the weather was nice and I want to go to a new restaurant that opened up there.” Chloe jokingly rolled her eyes. “Of course. I should have known it had something to do with food.” They finished their breakfast and got ready together. “Chloe, why don’t you wear a dress today?” “A dress? Why?” Louis looked away quickly. “Well, I don’t know. I just think it would be nice.” Puzzled, she took a sundress out of the closet-she kept some of her clothes there-and slipped it on. They drove downport and started walking on the sidewalks, past all of the little shops. Louis kept one of his hands in his pocket, the other gripping Chloe’s the entire time. He looked honestly nervous. “Louis, are you alright?” “Yeah, I’m fine,” he replied without even looking at Chloe. They walked an talked for hours, though Louis seemed jumpy the whole time. After a few hours, Louis stopped in his tracks. “I’m hungry. Why don’t we go to that restaurant?” “Alright, sounds good to me.” Louis dragged her along, determined to get there as quickly as he could. She had to run to keep up and stop herself from falling over her own two feet. When they finally reached the restaurant, they walked in quietly. “Wait here babe.” Louis walked to the man at the desk, who nodded once and grabbed two menus. Louis walked back to Chloe and allowed her to walk in front of him and follow the host. They were seated at a table for two with a beautiful view of the ocean next to them. They took their eats and immediately began talking. Chloe began to look around at the restaurant, becoming aware of something strange. “Louis, did you say this restaurant was new? It looks oddly familiar…” “It must be your imagination, Chloe.” Hut Chloe knew something was up, because Luis looked down at his plate as he said this. Nevertheless, she brushed it off and continued to talk to him. Though the restaurant was packed, they ordered dinner after only a few minutes and received everything quickly. After receiving their food and talking more, Chloe began to gaze out the window. “I see why you chose this restaurant Louis, it’s breathtaking.” “Not as breathtaking as you, Chloe.” Chloe blushed a little and continued to look out the window. “Louis, now you’re just flattering me.” “No, Chloe. I’m not.” Chloe heard a slight tremble in Louis’s voice, which caused her to break her gaze out the window to look at Louis. “Louis, what’s wrong?” “What’s wrong? Nothing. Nothing at all. Everything is perfect, and so are you. I love you Chloe. I love you more than anything in the entire world. You mean everything to me, and it’s crazy to think that you still brush it off as me flattering you. It’s true, Chloe. And I can prove it to you.” As these last words left his mouth, Chloe watched him slowly stand up out of his chair, reach into his pocket, and get down on one knee. “I’ve wanted to do this since our first date, Chloe. I’ve been imagining this moment for over four years now.” He pulled out a small black box, and opened it slowly to reveal a beautiful diamond ring surrounded by red velvet. “Chloe, will you marry—” Chloe got out of her chair and threw her arms around him before he could even finishing the question. “Yes, Louis. Yes, I will.” Overcome with joy, he picked her up and spun her around as the people in the restaurant clapped and cheered. With smiles from cheek to cheek, they shared a happy kiss. As the cheering grew louder, Louis leaned towards her and whispered. “Does this mean you’ll actually move in with me now, instead of crashing on my bed every night?” Chloe laughed and whispered back, “If you REALLY want me to…” Louis laughed too, because he knew very well that she was waiting for him to ask. He just wanted to wait for the right time, this moment. The moment that he had been waiting for since he took her to this very same restaurant four years ago.
